Platform terms

Terms of Use

Effective: 6 August 2026

These terms apply when you visit STARTeir, create an account, publish a campaign, follow a campaign or support a project. Please read them before using the platform.

Crowdfunding involves risk. Supporting a campaign is not the same as buying an in-stock product. A creator may experience delays or may be unable to complete a project. Review the campaign, creator information, delivery estimate and refund policy before contributing.

1. About STARTeir

STARTeir is an online crowdfunding platform operated by STARTeir from Kilkenny Road, Carlow, Ireland. Contact us at support@starteir.com or 086 816 3769.

STARTeir provides technology that lets creators present projects and lets supporters contribute. STARTeir is not a bank, investment service, charity, financial adviser, guarantor or the seller of a creator's reward. A reward arrangement is between the creator and the supporter.

2. Eligibility and acceptance

  • You must be at least 16 to create an account or support a campaign.
  • You must be at least 18, able to enter a binding contract and eligible for Stripe onboarding to create a campaign.
  • You must provide accurate information and use STARTeir only in compliance with applicable law.

By using STARTeir, creating an account or continuing to payment, you agree to these terms. If you use STARTeir for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind it.

3. Accounts and security

Keep your account information accurate and your login details confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account unless the activity results from STARTeir's failure to use reasonable security. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. We may request verification where needed to protect users, comply with law or investigate abuse.

4. Creator responsibilities

A creator is responsible for:

  • presenting a truthful, lawful and reasonably achievable campaign;
  • owning or having permission to use campaign text, images, names and other content;
  • keeping supporters informed about material progress, risks and delays;
  • delivering promised rewards and managing fulfilment, shipping, taxes, refunds, disputes and supporter communications;
  • stating a clear refund and delay policy that complies with applicable law;
  • completing Stripe onboarding and maintaining an account able to accept charges and payouts; and
  • not using campaign funds or STARTeir for illegal, misleading, harmful or prohibited activity.

Campaign review or approval by STARTeir does not amount to an endorsement, guarantee or professional verification of the creator or project.

5. Supporting a campaign

A supporter chooses a reward minimum or a custom amount and confirms payment through Stripe Checkout. A supporter may contribute more than a reward's minimum. Custom support without a reward does not create a right to receive a reward. A contribution is not an investment and does not provide equity, profit rights or ownership in the creator's project.

Campaign targets and delivery dates are estimates unless the campaign clearly states otherwise. Supporters should assess the risks and ask the creator any important questions before contributing.

6. Payments, platform fee and payouts

Payments are processed by Stripe as direct charges for the connected creator. STARTeir does not receive or store full card or bank details. A 4.5% STARTeir platform fee is applied to successful contributions. Stripe's processing, payout, currency-conversion and dispute fees are separate and may also be deducted. Stripe controls payment acceptance, verification and payout timing under its own terms.

Payment is blocked where a creator cannot accept charges. Shipping details may be collected for a physical reward and shared with the creator for fulfilment.

7. Refunds, failed projects and disputes

The creator's published refund and delay policy applies to the campaign, subject always to rights that cannot legally be excluded. The creator is primarily responsible for reward fulfilment and any refund due. STARTeir may help communicate or provide transaction information, but does not guarantee a refund, project completion or reward delivery.

Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights, card-scheme rights or any right that cannot be limited under applicable law. A supporter should contact the creator first and may also contact STARTeir or their payment provider where appropriate.

8. Campaign review, changes and removal

STARTeir may review, reject, pause, expire or remove a campaign, reward or account where reasonably necessary for safety, legal compliance, platform integrity or enforcement of these terms. Major edits to a live campaign may return it to review. Reaching an end date may stop new payments. STARTeir does not promise that any campaign will be approved, remain available or reach its funding goal.

9. Content and intellectual property

You retain ownership of content you submit. You give STARTeir a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display, publish and promote that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure and market STARTeir and the relevant campaign. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for reasonable backups, legal records and material already shared by others.

Do not upload content that infringes another person's rights. STARTeir's name, branding, software and site design remain protected by applicable intellectual property law.

10. Prohibited use

You must not use STARTeir to:

  • commit fraud, deceive supporters or impersonate another person;
  • promote unlawful goods, hate, harassment, exploitation or dangerous activity;
  • infringe privacy, intellectual property or other legal rights;
  • interfere with security, scrape data without permission, introduce malicious code or overload the service; or
  • evade platform fees, payment controls, campaign review or account restrictions.

11. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how STARTeir handles personal data. Creators who receive supporter information for fulfilment must use it only for that purpose, keep it secure and comply with applicable data-protection law.

12. Service availability and liability

We aim to provide a reliable service but cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, STARTeir is not responsible for a creator's acts, campaign outcome, reward quality or delivery, or indirect losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you agreed to these terms.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or mandatory consumer rights.

13. Suspension, closure and complaints

You may stop using STARTeir and ask to close your account, subject to records we must retain. STARTeir may restrict or close an account for a serious or repeated breach, legal requirement, fraud or material safety risk. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and provide a way to contact us.

For a complaint, email support@starteir.com with your account email, campaign and a clear description. We will review it and respond within a reasonable time.

14. Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by Irish law. The Irish courts have jurisdiction, but consumers retain any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings available under the law of their country of residence.

We may update these terms as STARTeir or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version. We will give appropriate notice of material changes. Continued use after the effective date means the updated terms apply to future use, but changes will not retroactively remove accrued rights.
